Step 1: Take your pictures:

For beginners, use a tripod to set up your camera so that it can rotate on a level plane smoothly and steadly. Take your photos one by one with a rotation that makes the neighboring photos overlap 20% to 50%. Below is a sequence of photos I took at night in front of the National Capitol Hall. (Pictures here are thumbnails from original pictures of 1600x1200.)
